F or all the astronomy lovers and curious people , your long-awaited event is here. For the first time in SEDS history,    the biggest astronomy discussion in Sri Lanka will happen on    18th of May from 0830 onward at University of Moratuwa with  the participation of honorable professors,  Dr.Dan Marrone (Associate professor,Department of astronomy and Steward observatory),  Dr.Chi-Kwan Chan (Assistant professor,Steward Observatory)and Nishadi de Zoysa (Secretary of SEDS UOM), Sathika Gunarathna (SEDS UOC),  Arsh Nadkarni (UA SEDS) from the AZ end as speakers in this live conference , which is going to  host through hangout calls . Their plan is to cover up the fields of astronomy and specially have a look at    black holes in this discussion. This will be a great platform to enhance knowledge in field of astronomy and get very relevant scientific solution for problems in this field .Organizers of this event would like to cordially invite all the curious astronomers and those

Let’s meet with New Horizon and Black Holes

For the first time in Sri Lanka and the world history there will be an online conference on May,2019 which is organized by the cooperation of SEDS Sri Lanka and SEDS USA as “Event Horizon Telescope and Black Holes” . This online discussion is conducted by Amaya Rajapaksha (Secretary of SED SL) and Nishadi de Zoysa (Secretary of SEDS UOM) with the representation of distinguish professors from university of Arizona. The concept is rendered by A.Nadkrani(University of Arizona) and Amila Sadun Basnayaka(Chair of SEDS SL) under the guidence of G.Vishwaroopan(Chair of SEDS USA) and M. Kainu(SEDS UNT Founder) and was hoping that all who are interested in astronomy and space science will join with them.

SEDS SL Advanced Space Workshop 2019

Image
Ready to Launch Our Advanced Space Workshop !! As part of the Ares SEDS-SL Rocketry division’s ongoing efforts to engage students Workshop will be held at the Maliyadeva Collage on March 1-2, as well as larger issues to engage students such as why we explore and what Earth-bound benefits are derived from investment in space. After the presentation, the attendees engage with the project, ranging from international partnership to technical innovations about the operati on of solid rocket motors.his workshop focuses on chemical rocket propulsion systems for launch, and flight. It studies the modeling of solid rocket engines. Thermochemistry, prediction of specific impulse, and nozzle flows including real gas and kinetic effects will also be covered. Other topics to be covered include structural constraints, propellant feed systems, turbopumps, and combustion processes in rockets. Venue  :  Maliyadewa College - Kurunagala Date    :   01.03.2019 Time   :   6.0

National Rocketry Competition - 2019

Rocketry Competition Hey everyone , Sri Lanka first ever Space Competition comming soon. National Rocketry Championship 2019 Organised by SEDS Sri Lanka The global space industry is growing rapidly providing a number of opportunities for economic and technical advances. At SEDS Sri Lanka we want to encourage the future generation that will support this growth by actively developing their skills, therefore we have created the National Rocketry Championships with the aim of providing university students who have had no or limited experience in the field of rocketry to get a hands-on experience designing, building and launching a rocket. Teams are challenged with designing, building and launching a mid-power rocket with the primary goal of reaching the greatest apogee possible. Motor selection will be limited to ensure a fair competition between teams. Teams will also be required to submit a brief technical report detailing their design and build. The above criteria are t
